04Scoping

Start with what your close looks like now.

The first conversation is a reading exercise rather than a pitch. An hour is usually enough to tell whether one of the five engagements fits, which one, and what it would take to run it.

01Reach the firm

How to get in touch.

Named rather than left as 'the principal', which is what this page used to say. A reader asking who a message reaches deserves an answer, not a job title.

A message here reaches Khaled Hawari, who founded KNA Group and runs its engagements. There is no intake team and no salesperson in front of him, so the person who reads your first note is the person who would read your ledger.

Contact details are being finalised and will be published here. Nothing is listed on this page until it is a channel that actually reaches the firm.

02Preparation

What to have to hand.

None of it needs to be tidy. The point of the conversation is to see the ledger as it is, not as it would look after a weekend of cleanup.

  1. 01The last three periods, closed or not, exactly as they currently sit in the ledger.
  2. 02Whatever your reporting pack looks like today, including if the honest answer is a spreadsheet somebody rebuilds each month.
  3. 03Who currently touches the books: bookkeeper, controller, office manager, the owner, or some combination.
  4. 04The date the numbers actually need to be in front of you, and who reads them when they are.
  5. 05Anything that has been reopened, restated or written off in the last year.
